ECLC To My Rescue
Sticking and Stuffing

From the get go I have baited and switched our family and friends with..."come over for homemade lasagna and wine...oh, by the way, while you are here...we have sticking and stuffing to do for Operation Bling!".  WELL...ECLC in Chatham, New Jersey has happily gone to task of our sticking and stuffing needs! ECLC is a school whose student body includes students ranging in age from five through twenty-five from twelve different New Jersey counties. These children and young adults come to ECLC with severe learning disabilities, language disabilities and multiple disabilities. The varied needs of their student body are met through the myriad of services offered at ECLC. Many of ECLCs staff are customers of ours. Ann, one of their staff and one of our customers, spoke with me about ECLC's CPS program. In ECLC's continuing commitment to their students, they proudly offer Community Personnel Services (CPS), a highly respected supported employment program accredited by The Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. CPS is committed to empowering transitioning students to achieve their full potential as they move into the adult world after graduation. These kids do mailings for local businesses, put together the boxes for local pizzerias and bakeries...and they put the stickers on our bling boxes and stuff the organza bags with Operation Bling's story and laminated Bling card! They do not even charge us anything because we are a 501(c)3 not-for-profit! Both ECLC AND our family and friends are thrilled with the relastionship! Thank you ECLC!

Dear Chris and Bill,

I just finished radiation at Overlook and was greatly surprised last week when I was given an opportunity to go "jewelry shopping" in the doctor's office! You two are the coolest of the cool. I only wish the staff had taken pictures of each patient as we realized what was going on! You have brought many smiles to people who on certain days have little to smile about! Thank you very much!

I received my "Bling" last week during one of my radiation treatment visits and I cannot begin to tell what a special moment it was! The technician was so lovely and kind and really made me feel special. It is such a nice gesture and I am so grateful!

It's a great idea and obviously born of great thoughtfullness for people at a very tough time in their lives. Thank goodness for wonderful people like you and all the folks involved in Operation Bling!

 Holiday Bling Parties
Blinging in the Holidays was a huge success. Thank you to all of our hosts and hostesses who opened their homes and businesses to help spread the "Bling Cheer" and support the Operation Bling Foundation! We kicked off the Holiday Bling party season at Morristown Memorial. Next, Cathy Davis and Susan Walters-Schwarz hosted a party in Cathy's home in Berkelely Heights on Bill's birthday...birthday bling for Bill! Lynn and Tom Culver of Culver Chiropractic hosted a marvelous celebration of their business and patients at The Paca Club in New Providence with a net gift of $3,000 donated
to Operation Bling.  Following that party Bill, Fran Ciaglia, one of our MMH's Bling Angels, and I headed out to Long Island to Plandome Country Club's Annual Holiday Luncheon. There were 320 attendees and "Bling" was very well received! The next day I went to ECLC for an afterschool Bling Party for the staff. Not only do they do our sticking and sfuffing, they support us as well! Our final Holiday Bling Fling was hosted by a customer/ friend, Camille at her place of business, Schechner Lifson Corporation in Chatham, during lunch. That date was December 14th...now...you all know we own and operate a retail jewelry store, Ferdinand
Jewelers...and the Holidays and retail is very intense.... to say the least...Bill and I had to put Bling on the back burner and finsh being the elves we are paid to be! The Holidays were a success all around! Thank you  ALL!

S.M.A.C. stands for Students Movement Against Cancer

The original S.M.A.C. was founded at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School in New Jersey by a junior diagnosed with cancer and his friends. Amelia Brause, Scotch Plains-Fanwood high school's current president of their chapter of S.M.A.C., had contacted me this past summer to ask how they could help Operation Bling. I suggested they host a "Mani-Cure" fundraiser like our daughter had done with her high school S.M.A.C. club six years ago. Amelia and her club took the ball and ran with it. They hosted a "Mani-Cure" for the town's elementry school kids. They engaged the community, painted lots of fingernails AND raised $636.32 for Operation Bling! I was invited by their high school right before Christmas to receive the fruits of their labors. Thank you Amelia and your S.M.A.C. Club for all you have done for Operation Bling!

Operation Bling is going to be two years old this March 1, 2010! Wow! In that short time span we have received our 501(c)3, raised $140,000, are "blinging" in nine facilities with two more hospitals in the works! Between all of the facilities that we are in, we have supplied 3,336 Bling Gifts for free to those hospitals to give for free to their patients! That is a lot of cheer and pleasure! Way to go Operation Bling and all of you who love and support us! Thank you!

Our Board of Directors and Bill and I would like to thank you most for the AMAZING people who are now in our lives and who we now call our friends...all because of Operation Bling! I can not imagine life any other way! Thank you!
